Sisters Katy and Emma Whitfield stood out Sunday when they wore their blue cotton homemade shirts at the Terry Fox Run. Printed carefully on the front were the words Scooter’s Spirit Squad, in honour of  their cousin Scott. The sisters, along with a group of eighteen participants that included family and friends,  were all dressed in those shirts.

While studying dance at Julliard in New York City, Scott, 19, was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma. He overcame this setback and graduated this past June. Katy tells Centennial Journalism’s Jenna Reid why they printed a slogan across the back of the T-shirt that reads “People should realize anything is possible if they try”. Listen to the interview here.
