On Ward’s Island, people gather every second Sunday of September to participate in a weekend of festivities in celebration of two local heroes: Terry Fox and Terry Metcalfe. Jordan Hill is Metcalfe’s son. He has been running ever since he was a child in support of his mom who was a big fan of the Canadian hero. She followed Fox in 1980, starting the annual run at the island’s public school  With his mother’s death in 1988, a family friend took over the run. It has evolved into a full weekend focused on fundraising, awareness and family. Hill has fully committed himself to the cause that keeps him connected to his “island roots”. He tells Centennial Journalism’s Catherine Magpile he will take over the whole event from now on. Listen here.
