Peggy Nash is a Member of Parliament for the Parkdale-High Park area. She ran at the Terry Fox event in High Park, on Sunday, in remembrance of her dad and, also of her dear friend, Jack Layton. Layton was a fellow Member of  Parliament who was  diagnosed with prostate cancer. He died in 2011.

Nash was happy that so many people came out to participate in the event this year. She says that the High Park area has generated more online donations than ever in the event’s history.

Nash says that even though both her dad and her friend, Jack died from prostate cancer,  she also has many friends that have overcome cancer. She tells Centennial Journalism’s Keanne Antwi that these are the stories that give her hope that we will get better at beating this disease. Listen here.
